How to Make Steak at Home
Ingredients:
- 1-2 steaks (ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon)
- Salt
- Pepper
- Olive oil
- Butter
- Garlic (optional)
Instructions:
- Remove the steaks from the fridge and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat a cast-iron skillet or oven-safe pan over high heat for a few minutes.
- Add a tablespoon of olive oil to the pan and swirl to coat the bottom.
- Carefully place the steaks in the hot pan and sear them for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are well-browned.
- Optional: Add a crushed garlic clove and a tablespoon of butter to the pan during the last minute of cooking for added flavor.
- Transfer the pan to the preheated oven and cook the steaks for 5-10 minutes, depending on the thickness of the steaks and how well-done you prefer them.
- Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the steaks. For medium-rare, the temperature should be around 135°F (57°C); for medium, it should be around 145°F (63°C); for well-done, it should be around 160°F (71°C).
- Once the steaks reach the desired temperature, remove them from the oven and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Enjoy your delicious homemade steak!
